Reward #4 - Character Bios

Models, this Reward is tied a bit more closely to the elimination Photoshoot than normal.

For this Reward, we would like you to write a quick bio about your sitcom character. Remember to make it detailed enough that we get a good sense of who you are, but don't make it so long that the judges won't want to take the time to read all of it.

The judges will pick the bio/character they like most and for each judge that picks your character bio, you will get 3 points added to your final score. 15 bonus points are once again up for grabs and with fewer models in the competition, those points can become even more critical to success.

You will have until the elimination Photoshoot is due to complete this reward.

In the past, Shanty Shan was the most wealthy girl in Shimla, India. She lived with a single mother who was one of the 100 most successful business person in India. Her mother was always busy that she never had enough time to spend with her daughter. Shanty went to the same elementary school as Julia in one of the best international elementary school in Asia. Shanty was the anti-social girl who didn't even want to make friends that nobody knew her name or even cared about her presence (not even Julia), all Shanty ever wanted was to have the love of her mother. Unlike shanty, Julia's parents loved her very much that Shanty always stalked her to the parking lot whenever school was over and saw how she ran into her parents who were ready to hug her tight. For that one reason, Shanty would forever hate Julia for having a better parents than a single parent she had.
Everything changed drastically when shanty's mother got killed in a car crash. She was adopted by a more wealthy couple and moved to US. Her stepparents got her a plastic surgery and changed her whole look. She looked more perfect than ever that she is a famous supermodel now.
Of course.. anyone would want to date a perfection like her. She meets two new girlfriends that she likes and become bffs since then. She also meets a very rich but goofy guy that she fell in love with.
One day, her two bffs Max and Keira were going to introduce Shanty to their bffs that she never met, Julia. Turned out that the Julia she was introduced to was the one and only personal enemy she had in the past. It gets really stressful that her scary past is going to haunt her perfect successful life now. Shanty refuses to talk about her past to anybody. Whenever the four hang together, it's always awkward for both Shanty and Julia as Shanty will not want to talk to Julia. She makes no secret to Max and Keira that Julia is dead to her, but wouldn't tell the reason why. Julia the innocent has remained clueless about Shanty's reason for hating her.
Until she finds out the news about Julia's marriage with the man she's been secretly in love with.. She was very surprised and angry because there was never a man who prefers another girl and not Shanty herself. She can not resist her anger anymore that it's gonna get worse from here. Shanty has a wonderful life after her mother's death. But whenever there's something to be jealous of what Julia has, that will always make her life hell..


James

Character Bio: Danny may look like your typical pretty boy heart throb that everyone wants and is completely unattainable, but he is so much more than that. Danny has worked his way to the top from the very bottom, and all the while held on to his humble beginnings and the sense of humor inherited by his parents. He's smart and business savvy, but doesn't take himself too seriously and has a soft spot for nerds everywhere, because he is one himself. He's the ultimate zany best friend and partner anyone could ask for.

Position: Director of Public Relations

Skye Rafaeli is Director of Public Relations at one of the most prestigious advertising agencies. She earns a high salary, and her job is very important to her -- perhaps too important. She rarely has time for anything or anyone else. Currently she has been working day and night for a client who designs action figures. She rarely laughs , wants to be the best at everything she does, and expects nothing less of those who work with her. She believes it's best to adhere to her high standards in order to excel in life. Her social life has mostly included her escapades with her three single best friends, and a few men she has dated. Now, one of her friends who was the "least likely" to "get hitched" has announced her intent to marry her somewhat goofy, yet handsome boyfriend.

Skye always looked for a man to match her standards -- serious, well-to-do, with a good work ethic. She has been unsuccessful in finding a long-lasting relationship because she doesn't realize she usually takes the lead in her relationships. As a result, she remains still available. With the news of her friend, Julia, getting married, and her biological time clock for having children diminishing, she is forced to take a good look at her own feelings about the subject of marriage. Julia has offered to help her and her friends find "Mr. Right". Is Skye ready to accept the fact that she needs something more than her job to keep her warm at night?


Madonna

Madonna is the owner of Madonna Model Management. She has a very serious, fiery, no nonsense personality, and knows how to get what she wants. Madonna was was the biggest fashion model of her time, and loves the industry she works in, taking it very seriously. She often doesn't see the humour in Megan's antics and commentary, and dislikes the party-on and laid-back attitude of Nico, her most successful model, despite his inability to meet deadlines or show up to jobs on time. By chance, Madonna bumps into Tulisa when she was making a housecall to Nico's apartment to scold him, and mistakes her for a model, who she quickly snatches up.


Nico

Family means a lot. It wasn't easy for Nico growing up in the big city. His drunk father had left him when he was 8, leaving his mentally unstable mother to care for his little sister, Olivia, and himself. Nico found himself as the man of the family, working his ass off in school, juggling multiple jobs to feed his family, and committing to community service hours for the local animal shelter. Okay so he sounds like a saint... i know what your thinking, no man is this perfect. I mean, Columbia graduate in Psychology, track star, and now a runway model for Madonna Modelling Management? He's got to have some flaw about his personality? Well unfortunately he does have a flaw. Relationships. Because he spent so much of his young adulthood caring for his family relationships, sexual partners had fallen by the wayside. It wasn't until university when he started to explore the opposite sex. Soon enough he had girls lining up outside of his door for a little one on one time... two on one time? Even males were lining up! and Nico would try anything once.. or twice. He had become a player... a casanova... a dick. He didn't understand the power of that four letter word until he met Tulisa after he had graduated. Moving into the modelling residence for MMM was a dream come true. His quirky neighbour Megan was his closest friend and had introduced him to Tulisa at a restaurant down in Times Square. His charming personality got her in bed, but like most girls that vacated his room, she believed it to be a one night stand. The only girl Nico had truly felt something for, had vanished before he woke up... but as fate would have it, the next time he saw Tulisa was not at the restaurant. No, as fate would have it, she had happened upon a chance to model in Nico's upcoming runway show. Upset with the way he treated her, Tulisa was looking for a fight, and Nico knew the best way to get to her heart was a little friendly rivalry. But what starts as a friendly rivalry will become so much more, as the claws come out, the sexual tension increases, and the hilarity ensues. Find out what will become of Nico's relationships with his hard ass boss, his goofball neighbour, and the new girl on the block on "On The Catwalk"


Selena

Maxine "Max" Rivas - The Wisecracker

The best word to describe Max would be “smartass”. Worldly and educated, she assumes she’s always the smartest person in the room and isn’t afraid to let other people know that. There’s nothing she loves more than proving people they’re wrong. Max makes a living as a liberal political commentator, writing several weekly columns and running her own successful radio show. Known for her outspokenness and humor, Max has built a very successful career for herself.

Even with their differences, Max loves her three girlfriends with all her heart. She’s the funny one of the group and is usually the one that lightens the mood. Max has had a string of boyfriends, but none has ever stuck around for very long. Her dominant and brash personality don’t exactly make her “wife material” and the relationships usually don’t last for more than a couple months. Though Max was in no rush to start making babies, she was surprised at how jealous she became when Julia broke the news of her engagement.


Yoon

My character is Julia Park. She's a journalist and recently engaged with her handsome & goofy boyfriend. When her 3 more successful, gorgeous and beautiful friends found out that she's going to get marry first, they are wondering how she did it.

Julia is a smart girl. Even though her friends always make fun of her, she didn't take it personally. She even try to help her friends to find their true love by giving them relationship advice even though sometimes her friends find her advice ridiculous and weird.

She met her fiancee when she was assigned to interview him for the magazine. Her fiancee fell for her because of her honesty and unique sense of style.

Team Pitches

Team 1 - On the Catwalk

A sitcom about the modelling world.

Madonna works as head consultant for a runway modelling agency. She is a feisty woman who knows what she wants.
Megan works backstage, directing the traffic for a successful show. She may look goofy on the outside, but as the show progresses, you won't believe her transformation.
Nico is a successful runway model working for Madonna. He is a bit of a player, but he knows how to keep a party going.
Tulisa has just had a whirlwind of success as she goes from restaurant hostess to on the catwalk in a matter of days.

In New York City at Madonna Modelling Management (MMM), the drama is high and the laughs are nonstop. As Fashion Week fast approaches, the head of the firm, Ms. Madonna Ciccone, scrambles to find a new model after one is revealed to be hiding her pregnancy. Madonna's right hand girl Megan is all sorts of a mess what with the new Versace line being changed last minute. The always late to the job, Nico, wakes up in his bed with Tulisa, a young aspiring singer working as a hostess in Times Square. Clearly a one night stand, Tulisa scrambles to find her stuff and head out to her job. As Madonna hits rock bottom, a sudden coincidence hits her right after, with Tulisa bumping into her on the way out of the Modelling Residence. Mistaken for a model, Madonna gives her a chance and Tulisa is thrown into a whirlwind of stardom, rising to the top in a matter of days. The tension becomes clear between her and Nico as she becomes the new "favorite" at MMM. As the hilarious rivalry continues, Madonna prepares for the show, and Megan tries figure out how to go from backstage, to walking the catwalk herself... without her klutzyness screwing it up.

Sitcom's Name - Mr. Right

Description/Synopsis - When Julia (Yoon Eun Hye) announce to her 3 more gorgeous, beautiful & successful friends (Deepika Padukone, Keira Knightley & Selena Gomez), that she's going to marry her rich, hot & goofy boyfriend (James Marsden), they didn't take the news so well. The fact that the Plain Jane in their clique found her Mr. Right first make them question what's wrong with their love life. When Julia offers to help her 3 friends to find their Mr Right, they accept her offer doubtfully. Will they manage to find a perfect Mr. Right for them? How they're going to handle the fact that they girl they used to make fun before & her goofy fiancee will help them in finding their true love.

As a writer, I know from experience that you need fleshed-out characters to make them work. A short biography without many details is really only a starting place - you need the backstory, a flaw, and the personality and a quirk or two to really get the sense of who someone is. One-dimensional characters are never a good thing, even in a sitcom.

Here, there are several that focus exclusively on one over the others. But some throw in the necessary (although vague, which is okay for a sitcom) backstory, have a personality, and have a clear flaw in the character that will make them compelling. I'm going to go with the one I see as the most compelling character here.

I'm picking Keira.

Nico and Yoon were my second and third choices.

I'm going with the model that I feel has given me the clearest sense of who their character is and how they'd work in a sitcom (not saying that the models I don't choose didn't do that, but just that this model resonated with me the most).
